Christmas Tree & Pudding

It may be a little early for some but I love Christmas, so here are my top 10 movies that are played, not just at Christmas but throughout the year.

1. It's a wonderful Life.

Well what can I say, a heart warming and moral tale that never seems to date, Think it is telling us we should all be grateful for what we have and never wish to change too much.

2. White Christmas.

Maybe cliched  but boy what a great movie. Everything you need for Christmas, love story, snow, singing and the most famous song for the time of year.

3. The Christmas Card.

Maybe not that well known but I really love this movie. It's about a soldier who comes to a small town on leave and meets a girl who writes cards to the armed forces at Christmas . Of course she is engaged to someone else but love conquers all, to give a lovely cozy, warm film.

4. The Muppet's Christmas Carol.

An absolute favourite of mine. I adore The Muppets and this is their very best. With the brilliant Michael Caine as Scrooge, the Muppets bring their own brand of fun and frolics to each Dicken's character.

5. The Wizard of Oz.

The brilliant story of the little girl who dreams about going to Oz after getting a bump on her head. She meets the Tin man, lion and scarecrow along with the wicked witch of course but all ends well, as the Wizard helps her see the error of her ways and sends her home.

 6. Christmas with the Kranks.

This movie always make me think of my family and what it would be like if my daughter had to go away for Christmas. Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis are so funny as the  Mum and Dad foregoing Christmas for a cruise, only to hear from their daughter that she is coming home after all and expects to attend the Kranks annual party! Chaos ensues as they try to organize the best homecoming party ever. Festive fun and great laughs.

7. Miracle on 34th Street.

I like the 1994 version with the late, great Richard Attenborough . Truly heart warming story. My daughter always said that Attenborough's Father Christmas was the real one and that he came to deliver her presents.( I think she still does and she's 23!!)

8.Die Hard 2.

Yes, a slightly odd and maybe, unusual choice. But I love Bruce Willis and hey it does take place at Christmas!Great action with plenty of Willis quips.

9. Unlikely Angel.

This movie has Dolly Parton as a country singer who is in a car crash but in order to get to heaven she must go back to earth to help a family find love, and faith in Christmas after the Mother dies. It is a funny yet emotional film with a lovely ending.

10. The Secret Lives of Walter Mitty.

This is the original version with Danny Kaye. For me the only version. And again maybe not considered a conventional movie. Fabulous fun with the daydreaming Walter Mitty, who gets into and out of many  scrapes. I remember watching this as a child at Christmas time so remains a firm favourite.

What movies do you associate with Christmas?
